Where it all began
In 1899, Harzer Achsenwerke was founded in the foothills of the Harz mountains. What began as a metalworking operation would become the birthplace of one of the chemical industry's most critical technologies.
By 1920, HAW engineers had developed and patented the industrial rubber lining process — a method for bonding vulcanised rubber sheets to steel substrates to protect them from chemical corrosion. This single innovation made it possible to safely contain, store, and transport the aggressive chemicals that modern industry depends on.
Today, over a century later, HAW Linings operates from the same Bockenem site — now expanded to 30,000 m² — with Europe's largest vulcanisation autoclaves and the continent's only rail-connected tank wagon lining center. In 2024, HAW became part of the Jasmino Group, connecting German lining expertise with integrated engineering and manufacturing across two countries.
